No matter you are facing an interview, or want to make your first sale promoting a product. A great first impression should have a lasting impact. That’s why you need to start well. Making a website isn’t difficult but making a brand is. A website’s home page, about page, contact page, etc. are something that every person wants to know about. In this post, I will tell you how to write a website about page and other pages that are part of a core content strategy.
The core content is an opportunity to create a great first impression that will help you build trust and turn your website into a brand.
What is website core content?
Core content includes pages or posts that cover an About page, contact page, home page, or any other page that talks about the owner and purpose of a website.
It is the initial content that you start writing on your website to provide an insight to your audience as to why is this website built and how it serves their needs. It also gives your audience an option to get in touch with you by visiting a contact page.
The purpose and importance of creating core content especially the about page are to build trust and establish your website as a brand among search engines and your visitors.
What are the necessary types of core content pages or posts?
Every website has at least 4-5 core content pages or posts in the form of:
- Terms & Conditions/Disclosure/Testimonials (optional)
Home page – A home page is like a landing page where your audience visits every time they want to know more about your website. This is the core page that contains links to the core content. A home page guides your audience to visit certain sections and is helpful in creating a valuable first impression through call-to-action buttons.
About page – As the name suggests, this page is like an introduction for you and your website. It basically covers the website owner’s introduction, the purpose of creating a website, how do you want to serve the people who visit your website, etc.
Contact page – A contact page is required to provide a way of communication with your audience and also establish identity trust. With a contact page in place, your audience will relate to your website as a trustworthy source and can contact you directly for any help or guidance.
Terms & Conditions page – Terms & Conditions page is not relevant or necessary for every website. However, this type of page captures information on legalities, rules, data protection, etc. that caters to commercial websites offering memberships, purchase of products & services.
Out of the above list, the first four categories of posts/pages should be part of every website irrespective of the niche and services they offer.

How to write a website about page?
As we know, an About page is all about you and your website. So, when you intend to write an About page for your website, remember to follow the below tips and methods:
Introduction: Start with introducing yourself. Include your background, what you currently do, your previous experiences, your hobbies, etc., and share a thing or two relevant to your website niche.
For example, if your website niche is dieting talk about your health, physical exercises, and eating habits you follow. This will give an idea to your audience on what you want to talk about next.
Breakthrough Point (Your story or experience): So, what prompted you to build a website on dieting. Describe an instance of an incident that you faced during your life as an example and follow it up with brief details on what clicked your mind to take action through a website.
Try to be as transparent as you can, and keep the details simple so that it looks relevant to the audience who are or have faced a similar situation.
Purpose of your website: In the end, declare what you want to achieve through your website. What your website will talk about, what products or services you will offer to cater the dieting needs, and what kind of other information you are going to share through your website that will help and guide your audience. Be realistic and make sure to conclude the purpose of your website with an aim to help your audience rather than pointing to any commercial or business intent.
These three points should be part of your About page’s core content. This is based on my personal experience that I ensure to include in my websites. You can go ahead and add anything more that you feel is necessary.
Of course, going forward as you build your website and grow your audience you can come back anytime and do the necessary modifications by adding some links or images to make it look more professional. But do not change or remove the helping intent from your content.
How to create a website home page
When you create a website the default home page will be a blog roll with some sidebars and menu bar options. There is no obligation to change your home page settings but the default blog roll home page lacks a professional appearance.
Again, it depends on the individual’s personal choice but I recommend you to change your blog roll home page to a static home page. This will give you more options to add dynamic images, call-to-action buttons, templates, etc. that are helpful in keeping your visitors engaged for a longer time.
So, how do you do it? Go to your website Dashboard > Settings > Reading > Your homepage displays > Select the option ‘a static page’. Before selecting a static page make sure to create a home page using your website theme or a page builder plugin.
Keep the below points in mind while creating a home page:
- Ensure to have a top bar that has a site header with a logo and primary menu options,
- Keep a page hero background image relevant to your niche. Add some information about your website and a call-to-action button with it,
- Next, keep an option to show your latest posts,
- And, in the end, a footer bar with core content pages
This is how a majority of websites display their home page but again the design and preference may vary depending on individual choice. So, ensure you keep your home page as engaging as possible with some visuals that prompt your website visitors to take action.
How to write a website contact page
The purpose of the contact page is to ensure communication and build trust with your website visitors. So, if someone likes your intention of creating a website and relates to your niche, they may want to share the information or products that you can write about.
Or, if someone wants to write a post or content to share their experiences on your website they can contact you, or in the long run, if someone gets interested in buying your website the contact page will come in handy. Instead of having your visitors connect through social media channels, it is better to give them direct access through a contact page.
The options to a create contact page is many. You can build one from the scratch using page builder plugins or your website theme templates.
Some of the plugin examples are Forminator and Contact form 7. Just go to add plugins section of your website dashboard and install the plugin. Go to the plugin and select the form template of your choice and modify the form according to your needs.
A basic contact page should include the name of the person, email address, and description for contacting you. That’s it. Upload the form to your contact page. You can give the contact page a title with some message prompting your visitors to fill the contact form.
An introduction of your website including the information you are collecting from the visitors, the products you want to promote, and how do you protect and use your visitor’s information.
